Job Description

*Position level will be determined by candidate's transferable skills, education and experience.

Under general supervision of a group leader or higher level personnel a Lab Tech II is responsible for carrying out project assignments, customer service and process development. All work is reviewed for soundness, technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Assists in outlining an experimental approach for solutions to project assignments. The primary job responsibilities involve ink processing and testing following identified ISO test procedures, recording data and reviewing results with their direct supervisor. Fulfillment of the primary job responsibilities requires data-driven decision making and the ability to organize and report results using a standardized template for lab reporting.

Position Requirements


  • Ink processing, testing and printing.
  • End use application testing.
  • Documents assigned projects and hours in WinLims/GPM and acts to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Communicates the results of project assignments and field trials in the form of oral and written presentations.
  • Identifies and communicates QC plan on new product designs.
  • Follows standard operating procedures/work instructions/test methods to ensure inks meet customer CTQs.
  • Participates in Chesnut press trials when necessary.
  • Performs all laboratory related functions on SAP system.
  • Documents experimental work in a lab notebook using established best practices.
  • Ensures all ISO requirements are met and produces the necessary documentation to maintain compliance.
  • Keeps abreast of existing and new technical developments in Graphic Arts and related industries needed to perform duties.
  • Follows Chemical Hygiene plan and looks for safety improvements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Provide regular verbal and written project/results updates and communicate timeline/status for assigned tasks.

- Tech I & Tech III

Support projects in collaboration with other Liquid Ink team members.

- Field Technical & Sales liaisons

Communicate results and recommendations, transfer of formulations.


Prefer A.A.S degree or equivalent in Graphic Arts or a scientific discipline with * 0-4 years relevant experience. Practical knowledge of statistics and Six Sigma methodology is a plus.
