Job Description

Initiate and execute the development through early stage commercialization for all improvements and new Screen products in North America. The product strategy is developed in conjunction with North American Screen & Industrial Product Managers. Develop new products and support technical response to the market and manufacturing. The role guides a team of 2 staff at 1STC site.


  • Lead R&D and application development efforts for Screen and Narrow Web Tag and Label (NWLT) products.

  • Provide application support to new product launches and commercialization of new technology

  • Improve existing products and processes to support and protect core Screen business and targeted growth.

  • Control the introduction and specification of new, existing, and alternate raw materials in support of cost improvement projects

  • Liaise with raw material and equipment vendors to ensure best technology is available to Sun Chemical.Control the introduction and specification of new raw materials.

  • Identify and understand IP for the developed technology including how it fits with regard to competitive IP

  • Develop, coach and manage performance of 2 staff in St-Charles.

  • Training and development of other Sun Chemical employees to support product line.

  • Work both independently and effectively in collaboration with global technical, marketing and sales partners (key stake holders) involved in the projects.

  • Train laboratory staff in safe and efficient use of testing equipment and materials. Adhere to SunCare and Sun Chemical safety practices

  • Bring forward new ideas of growth profitability and productivity and show innovation skills.

Position Requirements


  • 10+ years of industrial experience in Screen Ink applications, development and product formulation including customer facing.

  • 2-3 years of lead experience with the ability to coach/mentor and manage lab staff.

  • Strong understanding of chemistry associated with both solvent and EC based screen ink products a must.

  • Proficient with MS Office; knowledge of SAP a plus

  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills; excellent communicator with a positive attitude.

  • Strong technical project management skills with a proficiency in Six Sigma or similar quality tools.

  • Ability to make quick decisions with sound judgement to prioritize work in collaboration with Product Management.


  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Technical field (i.e. Chemistry, Polymer Science or Materials Science). MSc or PhD preferred.
