Job description

As an Associate Scientist, you will play a pivotal role bridging R&D Crop Team Leadership and field operations teams, ensuring seamless project execution and high-quality data management in our plant breeding programs. This position serves as the backbone of our research initiatives, coordinating complex trials and maintaining critical relationships between breeding, genetics, traits, and field operations teams to drive innovation in crop development.

Duties:

  • Lead end-to-end trial management, including data collection, analysis, and storage from discovery through late-stage trialing phases.
  • Coordinate field and greenhouse testing activities, managing crop processes from sowing to harvest while ensuring adherence to seed health prevention measures.
  • Drive marker-assisted selection programs by orchestrating seed/tissue sampling, laboratory coordination, and subsequent field activities.
  • Manage comprehensive seed logistics, including production, inventory management, and transfer protocols in compliance with internal regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise and data-driven insights to support variety advancement decisions and project reporting.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external cooperators while staying current with emerging technologies and techniques in plant breeding.

Qualifications

  • BSc (required, w/ 3-5 yrs experience)/MSc (preferred) degree in genetics, plant breeding, or plant sciences.
  • Current knowledge of agronomy, genetics, and breeding.
  • Basic knowledge of trial design, data management, data analysis and statistics; ability to manage and analyze large data sets.
  • Good knowledge of agronomic techniques, plant cultivation and crop handling relevant to the assigned crop.
