Overview**
Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a **Senior Chemical Specialist** to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

The **Senior Chemical Specialist** contributes to the companys chemical management program by providing guidance and structure to protect workers, general public, and the environment. Ensures non-bulk chemical inventory and life cycle management, and compliance with applicable regulations and statutes. Coordinates with multiple functions and organizations and influences the development ofpractices, tools, and standards. Provides chemical inventory transparency to support the safe use, storage, and disposition of non-bulk chemicals.
**Responsibilities**
+ Oversees andimplements the companys non-bulk chemical management program in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations and site Chemical Management and Property Management Procedures
+ Influences program development and devises and implements administrative procedures pertaining to chemical lifecycle and inventory
+ Conducts periodic assessments and evaluations of the program to ensure compliance and to identify any deficiencies or areas of improvement
+ Develops and maintains Chemical Coordinator/Chemical Storage Area Custodian job expectations, job aides or other materials as appropriate to ensure clear expectations and qualifications. Provides technical guidance as needed
+ Develops and maintains formal and informal training plans for Chemical Coordinators/Chemical Storage Area Custodians in accordance with regulatory requirements and commensurate with identified job hazards
+ Develops general awareness program and training for applicable personnel
+ Coordinates with appropriate subject matter experts (SMEs) as needed to determine appropriate controls for chemical storage
+ Maintains a chemical inventory tracking system that meets EPCRA reporting , GHS, and other requirements specific to chemical inventory management )
+ Creates, maintains, and makes available a Chemical Disposition Plan for all chemicals in inventory
+ Develops the excess/expired chemical consolidation facility and prepares procedure for its use
+ May act as point of contact with the DOE regarding the SRR Chemical Management Program
+ Assists with the minimization and disposition of excess/expired chemicals to reduce costly disposition as hazardous waste
+ Maintains a list of approved chemical storage areas, including emergency response cabinets and responsible Chemical Coordinators or Chemical Storage Area Custodians
+ Tracks expired and soon-to-expire chemicals and dispositions in accordance with applicable procedures for managing excess chemicals and property management
+ Provides guidance on disposition of empty chemical containers, empty or expired compressed gas cylinders, items suitable for salvage, oils, and other reusable or recyclable materials
+ Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
**High School Diploma/GED and relevant work experience in chemical management, hazardous waste management, maintenance, or operations with demonstrated fundamental knowledge/experience with chemical disposition as defined in the job description.**
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's or Associate's degree
+ Fundamental knowledge of DOE and chemical management related policies and procedures and an understanding of the functions, operations, and requirements of Site organizations in the management of non-bulk chemicals.
