Advantage Technical is currently seeking a Research and Development Engineer for an onsite position in the Minneapolis, MN area. This role is integral to the new product development initiatives and offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic R&D team.

As an R&D Engineer, you will independently execute and report on a wide range of engineering and research activities to establish performance standards for new or improved products and processes. Key Responsibilities
- Project Team Participation
- Play a key part in cross-functional project teams, supporting product design, material testing, specification preparation, process studies, research investigations, and technical documentation.
- Planning & Scheduling
- Independently plan, organize, and prioritize daily responsibilities to meet critical project deadlines and milestones.
- Engineering Tests & Experiments
- Design and coordinate standard engineering tests and experiments to assess performance and drive process optimization.
- Tooling and Fixtures
- Design, procure, and fabricate custom tooling and fixtures required for product development and testing phases.
- Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving
- Identify, analyze, and resolve issues related to product or process design, materials, or manufacturing methods.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Summarize test results, analyze trends, and draw data-driven conclusions to support product and process improvements.
- Technical Documentation
- Prepare comprehensive reports and maintain complete engineering documentation for transfer of knowledge to the technical community.
- Innovation & Concept Development
- Invent and design concepts for new products or processes and formally submit innovative ideas for review and potential implementation.
- Training & Leadership
- Provide training or work direction to engineering technicians as needed.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to ensure holistic project success.
- System Knowledge
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Product Development Process (PDP) and Technical Product Development (TPD) systems, delivering high-quality project deliverables.
Qualifications
- 5+ years with a bachelor's degree in mechanical, biomedical, chemical, or a similar field (3 - 4 years with MS)
- Must have experience in the design and development of implants
- Experienced in CAD modeling, FEA simulations, and prototyping
