Job Title: Research and Development Engineer
Job Description
This position is focused on the design of new industrial packaging equipment. The role involves designing and developing parts and assemblies using SolidWorks, creating models, assembly drawings, and manufacturing/fabrication drawings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, technologies, and materials.
- Collaborate with teams to translate voice of customer and market needs into product concepts.
- Evaluate and experiment with materials to enhance performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee the prototyping and testing phases of new product development.
- Implement testing protocols to validate the performance and durability of new packaging concepts.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure integration of new products into the sales and production pipeline.
- Communicate with external partners, suppliers, and industry experts.
- Prepare reports and presentations to update stakeholders on the progress of ongoing projects.
- Support existing products including root cause analysis, engineering change requests, and manufacturing support.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 3 plus years of experience in the packaging industry with a focus on food and/or beverage.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in research and development of new products.
- Experience with Mathcad, FEA, or CFD.
- Knowledge of Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) and machine tools.
- Experience in conveyance and new product development.
Work Environment
The position is based in a large manufacturing facility with automated equipment, offering a clean and updated office space. The work schedule is hybrid, with four days onsite and one day remote. The team consists of 12 engineers, with 4 dedicated to R&D, and the facility supports a diverse range of exciting new projects.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $53.00/hr.
