Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Analytical Scientist I to join our team. Under the direction of an experienced Analytical Chemist, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing analysis of flavors, extracts, flavor compounds, and complex mixtures of molecules using advanced laboratory instrumentation. The role requires expertise in GC-FID, GC-MS, LC-MS , and other standard analytical techniques, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive research and development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform analytical testing of flavor samples, extracts, and complex mixtures using GC-FID, GC-MS, LC-MS , and other laboratory instrumentation.
- Assist in the extraction, purification, and identification of flavor compounds in raw materials and final products.
- Prepare and calibrate instruments for analysis, ensuring proper maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Analyze and interpret complex data sets, providing clear and accurate reports on findings.
- Support the development and optimization of analytical methods for new product formulations and processes.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the validation of new analytical techniques, equipment, and methodologies.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation, including analytical reports, method development records, and validation protocols.
- Work closely with other scientists and teams to ensure the accuracy and precision of testing results.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in science related field.
- Hands-on experience with GC-FID, GC-MS, LC-MS , and other related laboratory instrumentation.
- Familiarity with sample preparation, method development, and troubleshooting techniques in an analytical laboratory.
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles, including chromatography, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment (e.g., GMP, GLP) is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with flavor compounds, extracts, and food chemistry .
- Knowledge of other analytical techniques, such as HPLC , NMR , or FTIR .
- Familiarity with data analysis software for chromatography and mass spectrometry.
- Ability to interpret complex analytical data and make data-driven recommendations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment, handling chemical reagents and laboratory instruments.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as required.
- Ability to work with various laboratory equipment for extended periods.
