General Description : Reporting up to the Production Manager, the Process Engineer executes work in compliance the ZERO EHS Impact Philosophy. The Process Engineer is responsible for preliminary scope development on CAPEX projects, partnering with cross-functional teams in the implementation of productivity improvements to reduce spend and/or increase production capacity and supporting new product start-ups. The Process Engineer is an active participant in creating, cultivating, and embedding a culture of Continuous Improvement to further the Brand promise and Operational Excellence. It is core to the function to enable others through technical training & coaching on process design basics. An Process Engineer is also responsible for participating in developmental activities designed to stimulate individual and organizational growth.

Process Engineer Functional Role

  • Ensures EHS compliance and continuous improvement in EHS performance
  • Provide technical support to Production and all its personnel to trouble shoot equipment, improve processes, process control ( DCS) and related issues
  • Work collaboratively with Quality on chemistry related issues & method formulation improvements
  • Develop project scopes and basic process engineering packages for new installations and retrofit of facilities
  • Conduct MOCs ( Management of Change) that are production related to process equipment and instrumentation
  • Vigorously Track and report monthly metrics Key Performance Indicators ( KPIs) as well as prepare technical progress reports on active projects and initiatives
  • Satisfy all Corporate Quality Requirements and ISO9001 Quality Management System
  • P ractice Responsible Care 14001 through active participation in the Responsible Care Management System and adhere to the Guiding Principles of Responsible Care 14001

Process Engineer Core Responsibilities

  • Develop scope and process packages for small CAPEX
  • Active participant in PHAs ( Process Hazard analysis) for new product initiatives
  • Execute small CAPEX projects
  • Ideate, design & implement productivity projects
  • Provide start-up support and operator training for new equipment installations/retrofits that impact manufacturing operations
  • Provide routine training and coaching on basic design practices & standards
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D and Global Process Engineering to develop process, mass and energy balance, safe operating process limits and plant equipment requirements
  • Assist in the plant formulation, process safety reviews, SOP ( s) creation, process implementation, start-up support and operator training
  • Pharma support for re-validation efforts, gap closure and initiatives in validated sections of the facility

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • BS of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, or demonstrated equivalency
  • 5 - 10 years engineering experience in a chemical plant
  • Experience in batch, semi-batch, and continuous processing & controls
  • Chemical engineering knowledge including, but not limited to, an understanding of fluid transport, heat transfer, filtration, reaction kinetics, general process equipment
  • High level of initiative and energy
