Process Safety Engineer

Long time client Seeks Lead Process Safety Engineer for their Columbia, SC Facility who can be a change agent and effect their culture with regards to Safety.

EXPERIENCE: BS Chemical Engineering or related Engineering or Science degree with 10+ years experience from the Chemical Process Industry. Someone who has working knowledge of a variety of ASME codes and PSM OSHA compliance experience. Someone has has done PHA's and LOPA.

DUTIES: The Lead Process Safety Engineer provides process safety and risk management expertise to the SC chemical manufacturing site. The Engineer is a technical expert with a process engineering background. They will develop and ensure the implementation of site wide strategies, programs, and procedures to help achieve world class environmental, health and safety performance goals.

Key Job Responsibility 1 Complete, or ensure the proper completion of the site Process Hazard Analysis ( PHA) and Layers of Protection Analysis ( LOPA)

• Manage PHA/LOPA schedule
• Direct the implementation of process safety management to assure meeting regulatory and compliance goals
• Provide guidance to Engineering on implementation approaches and possible design solutions
• Communicate status on corrective actions to relevant stakeholders

Key Job Responsibility 2 Provide process safety support for the Plant Manager and Process Engineers for existing and future operations. This includes, but is not limited to manufacturing, research and development, and incident investigations.

Key Job Responsibility 3 Providing hazard scenario identification including credible situations, modeling of heat flux, toxic releases and fire cases. Leveraging best practices for the implementation of process safety standards, assuring the foundation for regulatory compliance, management of risk, training/competency development, program consistency and continual performance improvement.
