The Position
Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Scientist to join the Chemistry Department. The successful candidate will primarily focus on analysis of biological samples using bioanalytical assays including qPCR and ELISA to support drug discovery programs.
Responsibilities
- Perform qPCR and ELISA based quantitative bioanalysis in a variety of biological matrices (including biofluids and tissues) to support pharmacokinetics and tissue clearance studies
- Follow sample analysis SOPs
- Process, review, and interpret data independently
- Track progress against project timelines, generate regular status updates, and communicate progress and issues to management
- Submit ADME study requests
- Understand program or study design, generate figures to present data accordingly, and share bioanalysis results to cross-function groups
- Setup and maintain lab instruments
- Maintain a well-documented laboratory notebook. Document experimental procedure and results accurately and meticulously
- Demonstrate well-established sample analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Execute all assays in a timely manner to meet deadlines
- Be able to address questions or concerns related to bioanalysis running conditions and data analysis criteria
- Adhere to safe laboratory practices
Requirements:
- BS degree in biology, chemistry, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/CRO industry or MS degree with 3+ years of experience
- Hands-on experience of quantitative bioanalysis techniques like qPCR or ELISA
- Hands-on experience of sample handling from biological matrices
- Demonstrated innovation, creativity and resilience in problem solving
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment
Preferred:
- Stem-loop qPCR method development or validation experience
- ELISA or immunoprecipitation method development or validation experience
- LCMS sample preparation or data analysis experience
