Associate Scientist, Bioanalysis

The Position

Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Scientist to join the Chemistry Department. The successful candidate will primarily focus on analysis of biological samples using bioanalytical assays including qPCR and ELISA to support drug discovery programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform qPCR and ELISA based quantitative bioanalysis in a variety of biological matrices (including biofluids and tissues) to support pharmacokinetics and tissue clearance studies
• Follow sample analysis SOPs
• Process, review, and interpret data independently
• Track progress against project timelines, generate regular status updates, and communicate progress and issues to management
• Submit ADME study requests
• Understand program or study design, generate figures to present data accordingly, and share bioanalysis results to cross-function groups
• Setup and maintain lab instruments
• Maintain a well-documented laboratory notebook. Document experimental procedure and results accurately and meticulously
• Demonstrate well-established sample analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Execute all assays in a timely manner to meet deadlines
• Be able to address questions or concerns related to bioanalysis running conditions and data analysis criteria
• Adhere to safe laboratory practices

Requirements:

• BS degree in biology, chemistry, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/CRO industry or MS degree with 3+ years of experience
• Hands-on experience of quantitative bioanalysis techniques like qPCR or ELISA
• Hands-on experience of sample handling from biological matrices
• Demonstrated innovation, creativity and resilience in problem solving
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Self-motivated team player with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment

Preferred:

• Stem-loop qPCR method development or validation experience
• ELISA or immunoprecipitation method development or validation experience
• LCMS sample preparation or data analysis experience
