Job Description
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications to fill the position of Teaching Assistant Professor with a desired starting date of August 1, 2025. We seek creative, inspirational educators who can demonstrate the leadership and communication skills necessary for managing and developing undergraduate courses. While we are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the teaching of both lecture and laboratory courses in general or organic chemistry, we will consider applicants with backgrounds and training in all areas of chemistry. A PhD in chemistry is required; relevant postdoctoral training or classroom teaching experience are considered as positive attributes. The salary will be competitive and include full university benefits. The initial appointment will be a two-year appointment with the potential for annual renewal (subject to satisfactory performance and by mutual consent). The University of Tennessee has a Teaching Professor career ladder with promotions that allows appointment on multi-year appointments after five years of service.
A completed PhD in Chemistry is required at the time of appointment. Relevant postdoctoral training or classroom teaching experience are considered as positive attributes.
