Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering Technology in the School of Science, Aviation, Health and Technology at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) offers undergraduate programs leading to Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering Technology. The Department also offers a M.S. in Mathematics with concentrations in Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics, Community College Teaching, and Remote Sensing. The primary purpose of the unit is to provide quality higher education and cutting-edge research experience to our students.
Description of Work
The postdoctoral scholar will join a research group broadly working in the field of renewable energy storage system, sensors, and biosensors. The position will oversee all the activities of the project and will closely work with the project PIs to ensure successful completion of the project on time. The postdoctoral scholar will plan, organize, and direct the completion of specific goals, activities, and objectives of the project on time and within the allocated budget. The position will report to the project's Principal Investigators (PIs) on a weekly basis and provide updates on the progress of the project. Along with the PIs, the postdoctoral scholar will supervise any postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students working on the project. The postdoctoral scholar will coordinate the project activities with all the external project partners to ensure smooth and seamless execution of the project. Under the aegis of the project PIs, meeting with project stakeholders will be planned and conducted by the postdoctoral scholar based on a schedule decided by the project PIs. Quarterly or semi-annual progress reports will be prepared and submitted to the funding organization by the postdoctoral scholar on behalf of the project team. The position will also work with the PIs and other project personnel in preparing journal or conference manuscripts.

Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with faculty
and students; ability to write reports; strong technical and analytical skills; and effective organizational skills and customer services skills necessary for a research-oriented environment.
Minimum Training and Experience
PH.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field. 0-5 years of relevant experience in materials and nanomaterial research.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
