JOB SUMMARY:
Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Verifies dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specification using precision measuring instruments including, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, hardness testers, profilometers, and electronic voltmeters.
- Aligns, fits, and assembles component parts, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates.
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures executing gage R/R (MSAs).
- Performs setups, programming, and operation of coordinate measuring machines or equivalent machines.
- Provides training and assistance to staff on coordinate measuring machines (or equivalent).
- Provides direction for the quality technicians regarding inspection best practices, technical development, and general process improvements.
- Works with product development to develop inspection plans on new products prior to launch.
- Inspects and releases finished product (finished devices, sub-assemblies, and components) upon ensuring that the acceptance criteria was met.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performances, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
- Prepares graphs, charts of data, or enters data into computer for analysis.
- Performs and or controls the calibration of test equipment.
- Performs fixture and tooling validation.
- Sets up quality module for identified measurements per the inspection plans.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Inspects parts and products returned after distribution to the field.
- Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
- Supports ERP system transactions to support returned goods, incoming inspection, and shipping/receiving.
- Assists in disposition of MRB and FAI parts.
- Evaluates device history records.
- Performs in process audits to verify process control.
- Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and at least 5 years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. ASQ certifications preferred.
COMPETENCY and/or SKILL:
- CMM knowledge preferred
- Experience with an ERP system
- Basic math skills and ability to draw and interpret charts/graphs
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with blueprint reading
- Problem-solving skills

- Ability to understand and follow directions
