The Department of Chemical Engineering (CHEG) is seeking a part-time Research Assistant for the Laird research lab. In this role, research work will include (1) developing open-source software for new capabilities, (2) analyzing results from research, (3) collaborating on scientific computing activities within the group, and (4) preparing reports and presentations to document the work.

Responsibilities:

• Performs basic data analysis in order to product reports. Documents results and processes.
• May test software prototypes. May interact with research subjects in order to perform job functions.
• Follows research plans in order to collect, record, and manipulate research data. Maintains accurate and detailed research records and files.
• Performs library research and field explorations.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Degree or Equivalent Required
• BS in an engineering or computer science discipline or related field Preferred
• A strong record of successful software development, including scientific software experience
• Strong verbal/written communication skills
• Highly motivated and creative, enjoys working in a collaborative research environment
