The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ranks among the best in the country. Our research programs are at the forefront of the technologies that have changed the world we live in. Our interdisciplinary approach to education and research allows faculty and student across the university and beyond to collaborate on problems that have a significant impact on the world around us.

The network and systems lab works on cutting edge networking research with a focus on network measurements and programmable infrastructure. The lab is looking for post-docs to work on one of the two key projects:

Project 1 (Network Measurements): The goal of this project is to develop measurement techniques to analyze protocol resilience to a broad range of failures. In particular, creating wide area networking telemetry techniques to identify protocol limitations and create models to evaluate different protocol options.

Project 2 (Programmable infrastructure): This project investigates the design of abstractions and data structures for managing hyper-scale programmable infrastructure (i.e., SmartNics, eBPF) within data-centers. The team will focus on using these programmable infrastructures to create more efficient observability platforms and to specialize resource usage to application use cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research experiments within the predetermined research scope and methodology of department and university.
  • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
  • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
