CAS is currently seeking a Content Acquisitions Scientist. This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Position Accountabilities

  • Actively organizes, creates, and maintains bibliographic records for all content covered by CAS.
  • Works effectively with a variety of bibliographic records such as serials, monographic series, non-serial publications, conference proceedings, cross references of monographic level titles, etc.
  • Ensures that the processes and authority sources to obtain, confirm, and maintain the bibliographic records are accurate, complete, and up to date. Creates, updates and maintains documentation for the cataloging function.
  • Implements and perform audits and quality control measures to ensure the integrity of the bibliographic data. Resolves problems with incorrect, incomplete, or duplicate data.
  • Assists and collaborates with other content acquisition operations that affect production and CAS database building.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform at a high level in a dynamic environment. Introduces new ideas and demonstrates original thinking.
  • Prioritizes work to complete tasks within pre-determined time frames, supporting the goal of providing CAS customers with access to published scientific literature in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in library science, or information architecture. A Masters degree is preferred.
  • Experience with Ex Libris Alma Library Management System and MARC code is preferred.
  • Experience with CAS' cataloging practices is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and time-critical environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Aptitude and interest for learning and using various web-based and/or proprietary computer applications.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
