Piper Maddox has been engaged by a leading business in the carbon capture and low-carbon fuels development space that is seeking a high-caliber engineering leader to help drive their next major phase of technical, project, and commercial growth. This role is an incredible opportunity to work on cutting-edge carbon capture initiatives, drive innovation in emerging technologies, and make a tangible impact on reducing CO emissions in a high-growth startup environment. Key Responsibilities: Conceive and develop new solutions in DAC/CCS, challenging conventional approaches. Model and design equipment to optimize adsorption kinetics at laboratory, pilot, and industrial scales. Plan and execute experimental tests to validate process models and assess new solvents and contactor designs. Oversee the complete design cycle, including prototyping and pilot-scale implementation. Conduct rigorous mass and energy balance calculations, equipment sizing, and process optimization. Perform process simulations using tools such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or gPROMS to compare design alternatives. Develop and refine PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering. 10+ years of progressive experience in process and/or chemical engineering, emphasizing calculations, simulation, and experimental testing. Proven track record with DAC and/or CCS technologies. In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and reaction kinetics-particularly in gas-liquid absorption processes. Familiarity with laboratory analytical techniques (e.g., ICP-OES, GC, FTIR, XRD, XRF). Hands-on experience in equipment sizing, scale-up, and process simulation using industry-standard software.
