JOB SUMMARY:

Perform all aspects of patient care in a laboratory environment that optimizes patient safety with minimal medical/health care errors. Verify questionable results or samples and repeat procedure as necessary. Demonstrate ability to function in all areas of the clinical laboratory including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, urinalysis and phlebotomy. Perform routine phlebotomy services as needed

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold our mission, vision, and values.
  • Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids to identify normal and abnormal components.
  • Verify accuracy of lab results, enter data, and ensure proper patient identification on all specimens.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment, performing quality assurance to uphold result accuracy.
  • Collect and study blood samples, including cell counts, morphology, and blood typing for transfusions.
  • Analyze biological samples, prepare reagents, and manage supplies for testing.
  • Communicate critical lab values to the relevant departments or physicians with proper documentation.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Present lab records and procedures to accrediting bodies when required.
  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager, Pathologist, and other departments to enhance patient care and resolve outstanding specimen reports.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and teamwork in high-stress situations, providing support to colleagues as needed.
