Processing Laboratory Technician
Job Description
The Upstream Processing Technician will support the manufacturing of Commercial and Clinical Biologics. The role involves following Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and performing various functions related to upstream cell culture processes. Responsibilities include mammalian cell culture propagation, aseptic cell culture operations, execution of large-scale production bioreactors, and large-scale filtration or centrifugation.
Responsibilities
- Review all area documents to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Assist in the manufacture of controls and calibrators, completing batch records in accordance with cGMPs.
- Perform in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers.
- Execute weighing, transferring, and mixing of chemicals as required.
- Conduct product filtrations and ensure product quality.
- Clean and steam steel tanks using CIP/SIP methods.
- Prepare glassware and steel tanks for sterilization in an autoclave and operate the autoclave.
- Maintain lab equipment including pumps, pH meters, and flow meters.
- Communicate updates and issues to the department lead or manager.
- Monitor stocks of common lab supplies to ensure adequate inventory.
- Respond to emergency notifications and perform other job duties as required.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends as needed.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in cleanroom and aseptic techniques.
- Experience in laboratory settings, including cell culture and bioreactor operations.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, operation, production, lab setting, or related field.
- Bachelor's Degree in Science with expertise in aseptic techniques, cell culturing, and pipetting.
- Knowledge of cGMP practices and chemical concepts.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr.
