Job Title: Chemical Engineer

Job Description

This role involves interfacing with customers to understand their needs and developing a scope of work. You will have a strong grasp of the technical aspects required to create solutions using the systems available to achieve desired customer outcomes. Additionally, participation in design validation, including pilot plant equipment and laboratory testing, is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Design pilot plant test plans, develop processing equipment, and collaborate with pilot plant technicians and chemists for system testing.
  • Develop process improvement strategies for equipment based on laboratory data to ensure proper chemical processes.
  • Perform heat and mass balance and hydraulic calculations to determine optimal equipment for correct processes.
  • Interpret technical data and information to develop proposals and cost estimates.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, including negotiating pricing and obtaining quotes from vendors.
  • Prepare material cost estimates for thermal systems.
  • Provide technical support and information to clients throughout the project life cycle.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in chemical engineering principles.
  • Experience with heat mass balance (HMB) and piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID).
  • Familiarity with high-volume liquid throughput processes.
  • Knowledge of evaporators, crystallizers, ion exchange, membrane exchange, and membrane filtration.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with desalination and zero liquid discharge processes.
  • Understanding of flow rates and turbine operations.

Work Environment

The position is based in the R&D Facility, involving daily onsite work. You will interact with customers, vendors, engineers, chemists, and lab technicians across all organizational levels. The role offers a flexible schedule, typically Monday through Friday, with most employees starting between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., working 40 to 45 hours per week. Occasionally, additional hours may be required to meet deadlines.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
