The Assistant/Associate Scientist will perform execution of Adeno Associated Virus batches at the Pilot scale in support of process development and early clinical manufacturing for Cell Therapy programs. The position will require upstream and downstream unit operation planning and execution in a development environment including cell passaging, production, transfection, depth filtration, tangential flow filtration and chromatography. Data analysis, authoring technical reports, and presentation of results will also be required, as is some flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
Education Requirements and Basic Qualifications
B.S. in Chemical/Biological Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry or relevant scientific discipline with 2+ years of biotechnology or cell therapy industry experience
Either Upstream bioprocessing experience including aseptic technique, bioreactor operation and primary recovery OR Downstream bioprocessing experience using chromatography and tangential flow filtration
Strong scientific or technical writing skills
Excellent documentation and data management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and on a team in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize work across multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with BOTH Upstream bioprocessing experience including aseptic technique, bioreactor operation and primary recovery AND Downstream bioprocessing experience using chromatography and tangential flow filtration
Experience with Pilot scale bioprocessing equipment greater than 50 liter capacity
Experience with Adeno Associated Virus upstream and downstream production and technology transfer
