Job Description


Tesla's Battery Metals and Materials group is looking for a highly motivated chemical operator to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. Scaling battery recycling is one of the most critical challenges of our time. You will assist in the day-to-day operation of a semi-works facility.

Chemical Operators will focus on the efficient operation and maintenance of a recycling line during their shift. They will be responsible for ensuring the line meets rate, product quality and performance benchmarks. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and safety mindsight. They must be adaptable, have good communication skills, and work well in fast-paced team environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating equipment, performing quality control testing, product packaging and loading/unloading finished goods and raw material.

  • Communicate with Senior Chemical Operator and team members regarding safety, production, quality, and operational issues

  • Conduct pilot plant runs/campaigns in accordance with all safety and standards by following written and verbal work instructions

  • Follow procedures to safely and efficiently operate equipment related to the manufacturing of chemicals

  • Use equipment and instrumentation to monitor pressure, temperature, and other conditions

  • Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Perform quality control testing as required, calibrations on equipment, and maintain accurate documentation

  • Maintain clean and safe work areas and complete required preventive maintenance

  • Quantifiable production, process, or pilot experience

  • Must be able to operate forklifts

  • Climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 50 pounds

  • Frequent bending and lifting

  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators, for extended periods of time

  • Pass pulmonary function tests and physical exam for respirator use

  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
