This is an Internal Employment Opportunity.

The College of Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Research Associate position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.

This position is located in Portland, Oregon.

This position supports DOD, DARPA-funded research to develop a therapeutic regimen for medical countermeasures (MCM) using mRNA-lipid nanoparticles (mRNA-LNP).

Key Responsibilities

100% - Research:

Develop clinically relevant formulations for the delivery of the mRNA-LNP.

Screen different formulation platforms and evaluate their feasibility for clinical use.

Synthesize and characterize polymeric hydrogel platforms for the mRNA-LNPs.

Evaluate the efficacy and the safety of the developed formulations in vitro and in vivo models.

Conduct aprehensive pharmacokinetic study to establish a dosing regimen, quantify biodistribution, and model the concentration-time profile in blood and tissue to establish the PK/PD parameters.

Generate and analyze data and contribute to scientific manuscripts.

Assist in lab management, ordering materials, and training.

Maintain laboratory notebooks, protocols, and reagents to maximize the efficient use of resources

Work collaboratively with lab members, co-workers, and faculty to ensure an environment that is safe, respectful, and weing.

What You Will Need

Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Drug delivery and formulation, Nanotherapeutics for cancer treatment, or related field.

Record of publications in internationally recognized journals.

Demonstrated effective oral and writtenmunication skills, and ability to engage respectfully with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; tfore, the incumbent must successfullyplete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

What We Would Like You to Have

Strong background in drug formulations with emphasis on polymer drug delivery systems and their use as nanotherapeutic delivery agents.

Strong background in polymer synthesis and characterization, pharmacokinetics, and PK/PD study design and modeling.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

Work will be performed in office and laboratory spaces with potential exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials. In addition, the position requires the operation of scientific instruments and work with animals, w t is an increased risk of injury. The work schedule can require non-standard hours (evening and/or weekend work).
