The R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy at the University of Arizona is inviting qualified applications to apply for the open positions of Postdoctoral Research Associate in the lab of Dr. Lianqin Lu. Dr. Jianqin Lu is an Associate Professor and Director of Pharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics Track at R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy (Ranked #4 in NIH funding and #26 in US News and World Report), The University of Arizona, a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), a distinction to only 69 North America's premier research institutions.

Dr. Lus research work has been published in Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Biomaterials, etc, and has resulted in a Maximizing Investigators' Research Award (MIRA) (R35) and an R01 from National Institute of Health (NIH), a Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) Foundation Research Starter Grant in Drug Delivery, and several pilot and seed grants from the State of Arizona, UArizona Comprehensive Cancer Center, and The Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center (SWEHSC). The overarching goal of the Lu lab strives to develop innovative, safe, and efficacious therapeutics at the interface of drug delivery, synthetic chemistry, pharmaceutics, nanotechnology, and tumor immunology to address the pressing unmet needs in current cancer, heart, and Alzheimer's diseases therapy and prevention.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Synthesize and characterize novel prodrug conjugate.
  • Prepare and characterize the nanoformulations (e.g., liposome and polymeric nanoparticles) cell culture.
  • Present research results and literature in group meetings and departmental seminars.
  • Prepare and write manuscripts for publication.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with group members and other labs.
  • Strong problem-solving and synthetic skills.
  • The ability to design and synthesize novel drug conjugates.
  • Strong medicinal and bioconjugation chemistry skills.
  • Skills in drug delivery and nanomedicine (liposome, polymeric and core-shell nanoparticles), in vitro and in vivo characterizations and therapeutic efficacy studies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, or relevant scientific field.
