This position is base out of A.O. Smith's state certified Health and Safety Lab, Clean Water Testing in Appleton, WI.

Work Schedule: Monday -Friday, 8:30am-5pm. Occasional Saturday mornings, no holidays.

Primary Function

Analysts perform basic testing procedures on a variety of analytical instruments, assessing the outcomes of the analytical techniques and documenting the findings utilizing a system of laboratory reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Follow SOPs to produce sound, relevant, qualified data
  • Receive samples, log in samples, and direct samples to appropriate work stations
  • Prepare samples, including acidifications and digestions when necessary
  • Assess workloads and organize timely processes for completion of analysis
  • Creation of reagents, standards and all chemical components required for accurate assessments of chemical compositions of samples utilizing designated instruments
  • Qualification of instrument performance as required for continued certification
  • Apply understanding of the fundamentals of analytical chemistry to proper instrument performance and data production
  • Ensure integrity of data is maintained and quality control measures are met
  • Processing and entry of data
  • Peer review of fellow analysts quality measures and data
  • Follow safety protocols and good laboratory practices
  • Perform instrument maintenance
  • Work as part of the laboratory team to guarantee that required testing parameters are performed within established timeframes
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required,
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in related field, preferred
  • Minimum of 6 months related work experience
