Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications:- Graduation from college with a Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate scientific field
- Successful completion of Clinical Laboratory Scientist/ Medical Laboratory Scientist training, including a supervised 1-year of clinical internship, from an accredited program
- Possession of a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or a similar license of equal or higher level issued by the State Department of Health
- Technical knowledge in biology, mathematics, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, immunology, molecular biology, virology, and skills in other clinical laboratory areas acquired through the CLS/MLS program
- Considerable knowledge in Core Laboratory instrumentation (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis)
- Proficiency with using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Possess computer skills adequate to perform the position responsibilities.
- Experience in multi-tasking and prompt adjustments to changing work volumes
- Able to work independently, under pressure; recognize and resolve problems while maintaining a high level of organization
- Possess excellent skills in interpersonal communication and customer service
- Able to critically analyze information relevant to the responsibilities of the position and effectively communicate findings both verbally and in written reports
- Able to understand and write technical procedures
- Excellent work ethics
- Two years of current clinical laboratory experience with a focus on the Core laboratory departments (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis)
- Experience with high volume analyzers
- Effective verbal and written communication skills relative to clinical results
