About The Role:
The primary function of this position is to perform qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical analysis of raw materials and finished goods in the quality control laboratory using physical testing, wet chemistry and analytical instrumentation.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist with the method development for analysis of dietary supplements (raw materials or finished goods). Keep up to date with scientific and technical developments.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical analysis of raw materials and finished goods and reporting test results in official certificates of analysis.
- Adopts and applies official analytical methods (AOAC/USP) and other published methods to raw material and finished products using HPLC, FTIR, or ICP-MS, and other laboratory instruments through verification and validation testing using calibration and standardization.
- Document and review analytical data in laboratory notebooks, complete investigations as needed, and follows all appropriate GxPs, (Good Laboratory Practices, Good Documentation Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Perform routine tasks to maintain a clean and organized laboratory following all safety protocols.
- Prioritizes sample testing and instrument calibrations based on the current inventory.
- Assist in training personnel on sample preparation and analysis as well as basic lab duties.
- Support cross-departmental teams as requested.
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
- Conducts self in the presence of customers and community that presents a professional image of SHP.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in a natural or physical science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or Microbiology). Experience in wet chemistry and physical testing (sample preparation; sample extraction; disintegration) required. One to two years in a production laboratory preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties of the job as listed above.
