What we want
The Research Scientist will conduct complex independent research within their field of expertise, applying advanced scientific knowledge and methodologies to support the development of innovative research outcomes. This position is responsible for analyzing experimental data, contributing to scientific publications, and supporting grant application efforts. The Research Scientist will also oversee the organization of the workspace and supply management. Additionally, the role includes mentoring junior research personnel and preparing scientific presentations and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Schedule/Location: This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends to meet experimental timelines or deadlines. This position is located on-site in Houston, Texas .

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
PhD in a related field
Six years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including flow cytometry, qPCR, ELISA, Western blotting, and tissue culture
Experience in in vivo models of cancer and infection, including study design, treatment administration, and endpoint analysis
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of immunology, especially novel immune therapeutic strategies
Understanding of oncology and infections, including host-pathogen interactions and immune modulation
Ability to analyze complex research data using statistical and bioinformatics tools
Skilled in scientific writing, including preparation of research manuscripts, technical reports, and grant applications
Excellent oral communication and presentation skills for sharing research findings in internal meetings and external conferences
Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple experimental workflows
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
The ability to mentor junior researchers and contribute to a positive laboratory culture
Responsibilities
Research: Will be responsible for conducting complex independent research into their field of expertise. Utilizes advanced knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and experience to complete research projects in their field of expertise. Oversees the preparation and cleaning of the worksite. Organizes the worksite and determine what supplies are necessary to continue research in an effective manner. Analyzes research data and summarizes results. Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications. Assists with grant acquisition.
Mentoring: May assist student researchers, Postdoctoral Research Associates, Assistant Research Scientists, and/or Associate Research Scientists who are working on research related to the project. May supervise assigned staff and/or students.
Presentations: Prepare presentation materials on research topics that may be presented to small and/or large groups. Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.
