Job Details:
PurposeThe Research Associate will support the coordination and implementation of several complex funded research projects through daily management and operational oversight.
ResponsibilitiesIdentifying and screening potential research participants
Obtaining consent, enrolling participants, and scheduling appointments
Managing study medications and/or devices
Conducting all study visit procedures and administering related measures
Collecting/processing/storing and shipping biospecimens (blood + blood draw)
Collecting and entering data, and facilitating study monitoring visits
Completing all study start-up tasks, such as obtaining materials from the sponsor and ensuring regulatory documents are finalized through internal processes
Maintain tracking logs
Managing project close-out activities
Developing and maintaining project plans to track deliverables and ensure successful completion
Proactively identifying and resolving project-related issues
Coordinating meeting logistics and capturing minutes
Collaborating with other departments, schools at the University, and partner institutions
Actively participating in research meetings and events
Assisting with specialized clerical and technical duties related to human subject research (e.g., IRB and research approvals) and other administrative tasks as assigned
Bachelors degree with 4 years of combined education and research experience, with at least 2 years specific research experience.
Team-oriented with demonstrated collaborative working skills
Ability to work independently
Strong collaboration and communication skills in a diverse environment
Ability to manage daily activities effectively
Clear, understandable, and professional communication skills, both verbal (in person and by phone) and written
Comfortable speaking with patients, including via phone or virtual video visits, to collect data
Effective project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and schedule work efficiently, prioritize key tasks, and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and REDCap
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Energetic and eager to learn new skills
Capable of both independent and collaborative work
Superior documentation skills
Analytical skills with the ability to resolve technical issues and assess data quality
Willingness to learn obstetric and gynecological practices and terminology relevant to study development and management
Ability to identify and respond to research-related adverse events
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
Preferred QualificationsFluency in Spanish
Experience drawing blood, processing samples, and shipping, or willingness to learn
Previous experience with pharmaceutical clinical trials
Experience coordinating clinical research studies
Prior experience in participant recruitment, retention, and data management
Previous experience working on Labor and Delivery or Postpartum units
Experience placing Foley catheter balloons to initiate labor induction
Certification in clinical research
Experience in health services research and/or cancer-related research
Experience in an academic health center
Experience communicating with patients with serious illnesses
