Overview Kemin is seeking a skilled and dedicated QC Specialist to perform chemical testing on raw materials and finished products using various analytical and wet chemistry techniques. Responsibilities include conducting chemical analyses with HPLCs and GCs, performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of HPLCs and GCs. and reporting on projects and ensuring effective communication with Operations and other business units to maintain customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have experience with analytical and wet chemistry techniques including HPLCs and GCs. In addition, we have a robust internship and externship program, and frequently host student tours. Responsibilities Perform various types of raw material and finished goods testing. Record basic data and perform intermediate data analysis. Responsible for raw material and finished goods release, with authorization, as applicable. Daily data entry into ERP system, as applicable. Operate and maintain most lab instruments. Review batch records, as applicable. Must follow and aid in the creation of all procedures and SOPs/forms. Must maintain proper quality documentation. Generate and review Certificates of Analysis. Assist with Change Management under supervision, as necessary. Participate in internal audits, as applicable. Report any nonconformities by following applicable SOPs. Generate nonconformities report and communicate to stakeholders, as applicable. Perform supplier qualification tests, as applicable. Assist with method validation process and perform method transfer(s). Must follow good lab procedures, safety, etc. Must work closely with cross functional teams (including Operations, R D, and other quality groups.) Follows and maintains an environment of food and/or feed safety in compliance with rules and regulations, as applicable. May collect samples, prepare shipments and inspect raw materials and finished goods. Qualifications Education and experience: Bachelor's Degree in a science related field with 3+ years experience or Associate's degree with 5+ years experience. Advanced working knowledge on most lab instruments. Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be able to use computer systems, including MS Office, M3 and LIMs, etc. Must have attention to detail. Must have project management skills. Familiarity with HPLC/GC is a plus. Ability to operate, troubleshoot, perform maintenance, instruct and perform method validation on lab equipment. Ability to interact well with others in a team environment.
