What You Will Achieve
This is a laboratory-based position where the individual will directly manage individuals and lead a purification process development team for a range of vaccine antigen modalities, with a focus on subunit proteins. This individual will also be responsible for utilizing appropriate analytical and biophysical techniques to characterize key antigen attributes important to purification optimization.
This role requires a combination of strong scientific expertise, innovative problem-solving, and a deep understanding of purification process development.
How You Will Achieve It
Develop, optimize, and scale-up recovery/purification processes for isolation of vaccine antigens, including protein subunits, nucleotides etc.
Utilize biophysical methodologies to assess macromolecule interactions and structural properties.
Present problems and propose technical solutions in discussions with group members.
Plan and prioritize related recovery / purification activities.
Independently analyze, interpret, and provide conclusion and present experimental data.
Keep abreast of scientific/ technological development by participating in scientific meetings/ seminars and through regular scientific review. Utilize new technologies and establish those technologies to improve purification / recovery capabilities of process development group.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must Have
Ph.D. and with 5 to 8 years of work experience in industrial or academic setting is required.
A strong background in protein biochemistry, biophysics, and separation techniques is essential.
Hands on experience isolating/purifying proteins (especially un-tagged proteins) is required.
Experience either directly or matrix-managing a scientific team with demonstrated teal leadership skill.
Proficiency with FPLC, HPLC, UV-Vis, filtration and relevant scientific software (eg. Unicorn).
Highly organized, detail-oriented with good communication skills.
Must be proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software
Nice-to-Have
Experience with biophysical tools including fluorescence spectroscopy, Octet, CD, AUC, DSC, DLS etc.
Experience with protein structure/folding.
Experience with training entry level scientists.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $102,900.00 to $171,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
