About the position:
E Ink is seeking a creative scientist to join a team making innovations in electrophoretic ink materials systems. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and creative with strong hands-on industrial experience. This individual will work on areas related to material synthesis for advancing particle control and stabilization, electrophoretic ink formulation, device fabrication and characterization for novel electrophoretic display systems. This position is with E Ink’s Research Department.
Responsibilities
- Research and develop novel chemistry of electrophoretic particles to generate better performance for next generation product
- Define chemical structure property relationships to achieve a fundamental understanding of material performance and capabilities
- Collaborate with analytical scientists to develop optimal methods for quality determination and performance assessments
- Document the results in comprehensive technical reports and communicate to E Ink technical staff
- Contribute creatively to the enhancement of the company’s intellectual property portfolio
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science or a related field with 2+ years of industrial experience or
- M.S. in chemistry, materials science or a related field and 5+ years of industrial experience
- Expertise in one or more of the following or related areas: colloid science, polymer structure property relationship, surface chemistry and modification
- Self-directed, motivated, and hands-on personality with attention to details, flexible and open to changes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly interdisciplinary work environment with a team to effectively accomplish shared goals
Preferences
- Knowledge and experience of surface and colloid chemistry, and materials such as polymers, pigments, and surfactants
- Knowledge of experimental design and statistical analysis
