Job Description

Technician should have knowledge of laboratory equipment, especially those related to finished material testing. Technician(s) require attention to detail and focus on all job-related tasks. Technician should have a good understanding of NCU product catalog, processes and customer requirements. Technician(s) will participate in testing and verifying finished goods, corrective actions, continual improvement activities, product and process failure identification, product and process non-conformances, line audits, dock audits, raw material approval and work order staging. Technician(s) can also be trained as internal auditors and have core tool training.

1.Test and verify all finished materials

a.Test material per Test Procedure/SOP

b.Determine if material can be adjusted based on control plans and FMEAs

c.Write directions for batch adjustments in a clear, concise manner

d.Assist in determining if material is scrap flag, tag and document according to Non-Conformance procedure

e.Maintain any manual product quality files for raw materials or finished goods

f.Perform statistical analysis on finished goods to confirm process is in control

g.Observe production processes and verify personnel are following all written instructions

h.Participate in SPC and GRR for production products and test methods

i.Assist Quality Manager / Sr QC Technician with small material quality issues

j.Recommend process improvements to eliminate rework and poor product quality

2.Housekeeping

a.Clean freezers and ovens

b.Maintain all test equipment

c.Verify equipment is within calibration

d.Dispose of retains monthly

e.Maintain organization everything has a place; everything in its place

f.Places material in proper waste drums and follows all Waste Program requirements

g.Clean up any spills according to Spill Cleanup Program and materials SDS

3.Line audits, dock audits, work order staging

a.Perform audits as needed per requirements

b.Wear all required PPE as outlined on WO, SOPs or safe handling practices

c.Verify work orders, packaging tickets, pick tickets per work instruction

d.Verify roll mill setup per work instruction

e.Sign off on staged raw materials per work order requirements

f.Fill in any work order, packaging ticket and pick ticket prompts

g.Verify labels for finished goods

h.Verify production operators and shipping clerks are following all process instructions

i.Perform dock audits and line audits

j.Fill in any required forms, documents, or input as required

4.Raw material verification

a.Test all incoming materials per customer/NCU requirements

b.Perform testing on raw material offset, prepare reports

c.Handle all chemicals in safe manner and according to material SDS

d.Wear all required PPE as outlined on SDS or safe handling practices

e.Use all equipment in safe, efficient manner

5.Inventory Control

a.Label incoming materials that are QC approved with proper stickers

b.Cycle counting

c.Yearly Inventory

6.Document Control

a.File Work Orders, Packaging Tickets, Certificates of Analysis, QC documents

b.Enter QC Test results from Technical Data Sheet into ERP

7.Participate in improvement processes including the sharing of ideas

8.Participate in training activities

a.Actively listen to or take part in training presentation

b.Ask questions of presenter

c.Complete any review, test or follow-up to training activity

Lab technician role in a QC adhesives manufacturing lab. Will be conducting hands on quality testing in a chemistry lab. Will use viscosity, FTIR, UV-vis, DSC. Will adjust batching.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

2. Bachelor's in Science degree (Chemistry)

3. Attention to detail and focus

4. 0-2 years of industry experience peforming chemistry lab testing

Good candidates can work well in a manufacturing environment and communicate across departments.

They prefer a background in QC in a manufacturing environment, industry does not matter because they will train. A fundamental understanding of QC requirements is preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
