You will serve as a Physical Scientist or Oceanographer in the Ocean Projects Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. - Experience investigating and extracting environmental data from external sources for data analysis and cross-check of data for pre-planning verification.
- Experience enhancing existing data set or data analysis for optimal product development.
- Experience storing new improved data of increased resolution into Geographic Information System (GIS) geodatabases.
- Experience utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to perform data processing while developing/adhering to standardized processes for data ingesting into geospatial data sets from other agencies and implements GIS imagery fundamentals; of geography, geodatabases and populates, metadata.

- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

- Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.
