About the Position:

Scientific position with a range of duties including planning, designing and executing high-quality experiments; producing consistent and reliable data; and critically evaluating and reporting results while influencing the technical aspects of an assigned project.

Essential Job Duties and Functions:

  • Independently initiate, plan, design, and execute experiments within the broad context and goals of a project.
  • Conduct detailed and complex wet laboratory experiments with appropriate technique and adequate controls satisfactory to substantiate/replicate results.
  • Critically analyze, interpret, and evaluate experimental data that may require extensive correlation and consolidation from multiple sources with little or no supervision.
  • Contribute to the direction and progression of assigned project by offering input and improvements based on theoretical considerations and evidence-based practices.
  • Operate independently as an exceptional research technician whose contributions are significantly important to an assigned project/department.
  • Report periodic documentation of work in oral and/or written form for internal and/or external purposes.
  • Consistently contribute to project team meetings
  • Maintain scientific records in clear required form.
  • Contribute scientific perspective to patent efforts.
  • Update job knowledge by attending scientific meetings; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks; and participating in professional organizations.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies; safe work practices; and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Ph.D. in skeletal muscle physiology with practical lab experience
  • Experience in isolated tissue and in vivo skeletal muscle functional measures
  • Preference for candidates with experience in small molecule modulators of muscle function
  • Preference for candidates who also have experience in basic biochemistry/assay development
  • Proven publication record
  • Proficient understanding of scientific literature in the field and related areas
  • Familiarity with safe and efficient laboratory practices
  • General scientific computer and software application proficiency

Salary range: $80,000 - 115,000, title and salary commensurate with experience
