Our client is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through excellence in specialized diagnostic testing. The selected candidate will play a critical role in supporting life-saving medical interventions through precise, timely laboratory services.

Title: Laboratory Manager

Location: San Francisco, Bay Area

Compensation: $150-190k (DOE)

Schedule: M-F 8-5

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in biological science, chemistry, medical technology or related field

Key Responsibilities

Direct daily laboratory operations ensuring optimal workflow, quality assurance, and timely processing of approximately 200 specimens daily

Lead and develop a team of 12 technical specialists in a department focused on detection of transmissible agents in donated biological materials

Ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable healthcare standards while maintaining strict quality control measures

Participate in hands-on technical work when needed to support team during high-volume periods

Manage inventory, supply chain logistics, and laboratory resources

Collaborate with Quality Assurance on investigations related to non-conformances and corrective actions

Maintain detailed documentation and compile statistical data for department reporting

Serve as departmental liaison with vendors and external partners

Assist with budget development and monitor expenditures

Perform duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies

Required Qualifications

Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist License - REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in biological science, chemistry, medical technology or related field from an accredited institution

Minimum 5 years of laboratory experience in clinical settings

Demonstrated supervisory experience with proven ability to lead technical teams

Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory equipment, techniques, and protocols

Experience ensuring compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements
