Responsibilities

The Chemistry Lab Technician will work under the supervision of the Senior Lab Technician to support the instructional and research activities of the Biological and Chemical Sciences Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the preparation and clean-up of reagents, solutions, and materials for General Chemistry 1 and 2, Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, and Bioroganic Chemistry laboratory courses.
  • Set up and break down laboratory equipment for teaching labs.
  • Help maintain inventory and storage of chemicals, glassware, and supplies.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure that laboratory safety standards and protocols are followed at all times.
  • Support the Senior Lab Technician in maintaining chemical hygiene plans and safety documentation.
  • Assist in waste disposal following regulatory and institutional guidelines.
  • Provide general assistance to faculty and students during laboratory sessions, as needed.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.

At least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience in an academic or research setting (may include student work or internships).

Basic understanding of chemical safety protocols, laboratory procedures, and proper handling of equipment and reagents.

Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Basic computer skills.

Physically able to lift and move moderate weights safely and as required.

Minimum Salary USD $50,000.00/Yr. Maximum Salary USD $55,000.00/Yr.
