About the role:
BSI America Professional Services Inc. (BSI) is hiring a Chemical Safety Specialist to support the EHS department at a client site in the Boston, MA area. This is a full-time position with benefits, located at a biopharmaceutical laboratory and research facility.
Responsibilities:Lead and conduct chemical safety inspections of laboratories, manufacturing spaces, and storage areas, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations (OSHA, RCRA, DOT, etc.).
Act as a subject matter expert on chemical and pharmaceutical compound safety, including potent compounds and ADC materials.
Partner with EHS team to develop, review, and maintain SOPs involving chemical handling and storage.
Support the risk assessment process for new chemical processes, experimental compounds, or equipment.
Provide training and guidance to lab and operations staff on chemical hygiene, waste disposal, emergency procedures, and exposure controls.
Maintain safety documentation including Safety Data Sheets, chemical inventories, and inspection reports.
Respond to chemical incidents and support investigation and corrective actions as needed.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in an EHS, lab safety, or chemical handling role, preferably in a biotech, pharma, or life sciences setting.
Knowledge of hazardous material regulations including RCRA, DOT, OSHA, and GHS.
Experience handling or supporting environments with potent compounds or high-containment materials.

Salary
The salary for this position can range from $73,950 to $95,700 annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidates competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
