Your Opportunity

Stantec's Hartford, CT office is seeking a mid-level Project Scientist, Geologist, or Engineer to support a variety of site investigations, remediation / construction projects, and due diligence assessments. The potential candidate should have 2 to 8 years of experience in environmental consulting, site assessments, and remediation, with expertise in CT RSRs and regulatory guidance documents

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee field activities, including drilling, construction oversight, and monitoring well installation.

  • Conduct sampling programs for sediment, soil, soil gas, groundwater, stormwater, and waste characterization.

  • Evaluate and interpret analytical data in comparison to applicable Connecticut Remediation Standard Regulations (CT RSRs).

  • Prepare Phase I / II / III Environmental Site Assessments, summary reports, soil management plans, remedial action plans, and other regulatory deliverables.

  • Assist in the development of project scopes, budgets, and proposals.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, regulators, and internal teams.

  • Ensure health and safety compliance through the preparation of safety plans and serving as a site safety officer.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills to develop clear, concise technical reports.

  • Strong familiarity with CT DEEP environmental regulations, guidance documents, and remediation programs (including the Property Transfer Act Program).

  • Interest in obtaining Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) certification within five years (preferred).

  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification required.

  • Ability to work independently and lead teams when necessary.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to identify project needs and execute tasks efficiently.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean record and willingness to travel occasionally.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental consulting, site assessments, and remediation, with expertise in CT RSRs and CT DEEP guidance documents.
