Title: Bench Scientist
Location: Bothell, WA
Duration: 6+ Months
Job Description:
- We are seeking a senior associate scientist to help manage our internal protein inventory and assist with routine antibody purifications.
- Your primary activities will be to fulfill inventory requests, perform FPLC-based antibody purifications, and analyze purified material to confirm quality.
- Your work will support the core protein production group within the Research department and will play a critical role in driving preclinical efforts to develop novel antibody-based therapeutics.
- Regularly monitor, self-assign, and update inventory requests.
- Use LIMS interface and Excel workbooks to fulfill and document assigned requests.
- Manipulate protein samples under sterile conditions inside a biosafety cabinet.
- Purify antibodies with AKTA Avant equipment.
- Characterize purified proteins by UPLC, UV-vis, and Mass Spectrometry methods.
- Maintain detailed records of purification experiments in an ELN.
- Complete general lab upkeep including buffer preparation and basic FPLC/column maintenance.
- Communicate activities to the team and troubleshoot any issues, elevating problems to management as needed.
Education And Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry) with 2+ years post-degree lab experience.
Technical Skills Requirements:
- Wet lab experience using pipettes and maintaining sample sterility using biological safety cabinets.
- Hands-on experience with FPLC protein purification.
- (Preferred) experience with protein analytical methods (e.g., analytical SEC, HIC, mass spectrometry).
- (Preferred) experience keeping records in ELN systems.
- (Preferred) writes or understands advanced Excel formulas and VBA or other coding languages.
Hard Skills:
