Your role and responsibilitiesIBM Research at Albany Nanotech is currently seeking for an entry level transmission electron microscope (TEM) and focused ion beam (FIB) technician working in physical characterization and failure analysis (FA) lab. The technician will work with the lead engineer to perform physical characterization of advanced semiconductor technology development wafers. Need to independently operate TEM, FIB, optical microscope, scanning electron microscope. Possible other techniques including atomic force microscope and scanning capacitance microscope. Basic, FIB operation including fabricating TEM sample. TEM operation, including collecting bright-fiend TEM, STEM, and EDX map. Need basic understanding of semiconductor device and processing. This job requires candidate to work on alternate week shift. Week 1 (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat 7am to 7pm each day) & Week 2 (Sun, Wed, Thu 7am to 7pm each day). Night shift 7pm to 7am on the same days is also available.
Job Duties :
Job Duty 1 follow instructions from lead engineers and job requesters.
Job Duty 2 operate TEM to collect TEM, STEM and EDX data.
Job Duty 3 operate FIB to fabricate TEM samples
Job Duty 4 - basic understanding of semiconductor fab environment Job
Job Duty 5 - lab maintains, sorting and store wafers
Required education Bachelor's Degree Preferred education Master's Degree Required technical and professional expertise1) Strong verbal and written communication skill
2) Strong computer skills, Microsoft office
3) Strong comprehension of 3D structure and its 2D cross-section
4) Steady hands to handle small objects
5) Basic understanding of chemistry and physics.
Preferred technical and professional experience1) Prior experience in semiconductor industry. (1+ years)
2) Understanding of basic integrated circuit. (1+ years)
3) Operation of TEM/SEM/FIB/optical microscope (1+ years)
