Scientist I, Formulations (Contract)

Position Summary:

Are you a highly motivated and driven researcher who wants to contribute to developing products for sustainable agriculture? We are seeking a determined, impact-driven, full-time contract Formulations Scientist with an eagerness for innovation to join the Delivery and Transformation team. The successful candidate will be highly organized and comfortable working as an integral member of a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, record-keeping, and teamwork skills will be critical.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing, testing, and optimizing RNA formulations
• Developing formulation strategies to improve ingredient stability and shelf life
• Developing and implementing assays for evaluating functionality, targeting efficiency, and potency of delivery modalities
• Performing analytical formulation characterization and stability studies
• Presenting scientific findings in cross-functional project team meetings, writing protocols and reports, and documenting results in electronic laboratory notebooks
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to research associates
• Contributing to a dynamic, exciting culture that embraces teamwork and innovation

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomaterials Science, or a related discipline or an MS in one of these fields and 8+ years of professional laboratory experience
• Demonstrated competency in formulation technology with a proven track record of product development, preferably in agriculture
• Experience formulating and delivering RNA-based molecules or products
• Advanced knowledge of encapsulation technologies
• Strong background in developing diverse agricultural formulations
• Hands-on experience operating analytical instruments to characterize formulations
• Knowledge and experience with scaling up agricultural formulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with a diverse interdisciplinary team
• Demonstrated organizational and record-keeping skills
