We are currently searching for a Research Scientist. This role will carry out in vitro experiments to explore the regulation and the function of nonmuscle myosins, particularly nonmuscle mysin 2C and its interaction with actin. The individual will develop in vitro motility assays for studying the movement of nonmuscle myosin 2 filaments by looking at actin filaments that are bundled with various cross-linking proteins that are arrayed in meshworks created by the Arp2/3 protein and that are complexed with tropomyosins and will carry out an analysis of nonmuscle myosin 2C filaments with acti. This is a full-time opportunity located in Bethesda, MD.
Lead and promote activities designed to develop collaborative research with research colleagues and support staff internally and to actively develop appropriate external contacts and networks relevant future collaboration and funding opportunities.
Lead major research and/or consultancy projects.
Lead relevant meetings associated with the research project or related activities.
Ensure that responsibilities identified within internal processes such as Health and Safety guidelines etc. are robustly met by all research team members.
Take lead responsibility for resolving problems affecting the delivery of research projects and for planning and implementing future research projects that emerge from the current project.
Contribute to the teaching profile of the department.
Undertake any other duties relevant to the program of research.
Independently undertake advanced research in the lab using, or developing, the appropriate methods and/or techniques and managing associated staff and/or student contributions to the project.
Lead the production of high-quality research reports and/or publications for dissemination to the wider academic community.
What You Will Need :
Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences or related science.
A minimum of FOUR (4) years of related experience.
Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
Significant knowledge of Molecular Physiology mechanisms.
Previously supported and performed sensitive scholarly research by authoring research projects, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data and preparing manuscripts.
Must be able to initiate and maintain collaborations with other investigators while successfully guiding the lab's research projects.
Must have previously designed, document, and present the results of efficient studies.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients
What Would Be Nice To Have :
Previous experience with NIH preferred.
Experience in advising and supervising junior postdoctoral fellows in all facets of research projects including initial experimental design and technical support.
