In accordance, this position will apply sample preparation procedures and perform evaluations using materials testing and characterization equipment to effectively gather, collate, analyze, and report pertinent data. This position disseminates the results and recommendations of the investigative work via written reports, meetings, and direct communications to facilitate timely, cost-effective solutions / changes for improved product offerings and profitability.
Responsibilities:
Perform laboratory investigations as directed by the lab manager. These investigations will result from requests submitted by internal Technical Service associates, Sales associates, Manufacturing associates, etc. The requests will be vetted for value before investigations are initiated. Investigation activity will typically include the following items, for which the position shall capable of:
The collection and identification of all samples and assembling all available information pertaining to the subject analysis, including related mill processing records, customer processing records (if appropriate), trends in related observations, etc.;
Formulating and implementing a work plan, while anticipating changes and additions in the scope of work. Scheduling and/or carrying out appropriate tests to accomplish the stated plan in a timely fashion keeping in mind appropriate quality, etc.;
Analyze results obtained from the tests performed. This requires arranging test data in a logical sequence, while compiling associated information. Review of the test data, researched information, independent calculations, and educated assumptions of missing or non-existent information. Possibly confer with other experts / interested parties and correlation with historical information/data to best understand the data.
