POSITION SUMMARY
This role will support the conception and maturation of a variety of quantum products, including the development and testing of specialized processes: glass substrate processing, glass and dissimilar material bonding, silicon wafer processing and testing, thin film characterization, laser processing and electrical integration. The materials engineer's role will include a combination of self-directed and collaborative efforts with a team of physicists, engineers, technicians, and business personnel.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop materials bonding and fabrication techniques for construction of vacuum cells, vapor cells, and quantum components
- Collaborate with physicists and optical, electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to define mechanical and optomechanical system requirements
- Produce engineering documentation, including technical drawings, mechanical assembly packages, work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Support root cause analysis or failure mode investigations
- Validate processes through design of experiments, hands-on testing and statistical analysis
- Other duties or projects as assigned
