Quality Control Chemist
Job Description

The Quality Control Chemist will be responsible for performing HPLC, GC, and bench chemistry on core products such as Heparin and Pancreatin, as well as potential new products. The role involves a variety of testing, including routine tests and cross-training on multiple methods, providing a diverse work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct HPLC and GC testing, focusing heavily on Heparin every two weeks.
  • Perform tests for related substances, molecular weight, nucleotidic impurities, potency, and blood chemistry.
  • Execute enzyme and fat testing, along with wet chemistry, for Pancreatin.
  • Review and adhere to customer requests and guidelines.
  • Engage in routine testing with opportunities for cross-training on various assays.
  • Schedule and set up daily testing, ranging from short moisture tests to day-long HPLC and GC tests.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related life science.
  • At least 1 year of quality control chemistry experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with API, GMP, FDA, and SOP processes.
  • Capability to conduct technical writing and investigatory activities.
Work Environment

The role operates within state-of-the-art clean rooms featuring centrifuges, fume hoods, and fridges. The work schedule is flexible, with first shift hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, allowing start times between 7:00 and 9:00 am. Minimal overtime may be required but is not mandatory. Physical demands include exposure to various conditions and the need to complete a 30lb lift test. The position is based in Building 23, and candidates must be comfortable working with Heparin and Pancreatin.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.50/hr.
