Senior Software Development Engineer, Amazon Ads

  • Amazon
  • Seattle, Washington
  • Full Time

The Cinder team in Amazon Ads operates at high scale, with high expectations. We own the core bidding systems that deliver ads to Amazon's owned and operated properties and external publishers, focused on scalability, extensibility, and privacy and balancing the needs of advertisers, publishers and consumers. Our real-time systems service hundreds of billions of ad requests daily, with response latencies measured in milliseconds. Our off-line systems process millions of configuration changes daily that our customers expect to see live in minutes.

The Amazon Ads business is an exciting fast-paced environment, and our team is no exception. The service and solutions we produce are used by dozens of internal business teams, as well as Amazon customers: publishers, broadcasters, and advertisers. As we scale, there are continually opportunities to refine and improve our systems. Every contributor on the team has a chance to have a material impact on our business.

Key job responsibilities
As a senior Software Development Engineer for Cinder, you will (a) partner with teams across the organization worldwide to build robust scalable extensible solutions to realize their goals, (b) drive the design, development, and continuous improvement of our ad-serving systems via your own contribution and experimentation and the leadership of others, and (c) invent and deliver initiatives to simplify our systems, reduce the unit cost to serve, and improve reliability.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering results on an ad exchange at scale, be detail-oriented, data-driven, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You must be able to thrive and succeed in a fast-moving environment with abundant ambiguity and competing priorities. You will be able to understand the goals, priorities, and technical challenges of the Cinder team, and apply them to design decisions, and understand and translate customer needs into technical details.
