Medical Lab Scientist

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Lab Scientist to join our team. This role involves performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in laboratory science and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with the processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • State Medical Technologist license may be required.
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficient with computers.
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
  • Licensed Medical Technologist preferred but open to MLT with 2+ years of hospital core lab experience.
  • State licensed MLT or Technologist.
Work Environment

This position is based at a medical facility in Panama City. The shift is from 7 PM to 7 AM, 6 days per week followed by 8 days off. The role requires flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs. The work environment involves handling medical specimens and working with laboratory equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn at all times to maintain safety standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
