Medical Lab Scientist I

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Lab Scientist I to join our team. In this role, you will perform both routine and complex laboratory procedures to support quality patient care. You will work in a collaborative environment where your technical expertise and attention to detail will be crucial in delivering accurate test results.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory CLIA State requirements.
• Minimum of 0-2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficiency with computers.
• High level of attention to detail, along with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.

• State Medical Technologist license may be required.
• ASCP or AMT certification is either preferred or required.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
• Associate's Degree and MLS Certification.

This position is located at the Medical Lab at St. Johns Medical Center. The environment is collaborative and supportive, with a focus on delivering quality patient care. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts may be necessary depending on business needs. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided and must be worn at all times.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
