Job Title: Quality Control Chemist
Job Description
The Quality Control Chemist will be responsible for conducting analytical testing of pharmaceutical products using a variety of wet chemistry techniques. This role involves joining the raw materials team to support the API group and collaborating with the QC lab team.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic chemical testing for multiple APIs and excipients.
- Conduct Compendial Wet Testing, identification testing using techniques such as FTIR and UV.
- Perform physical examinations, extractions, distillations, and basic chromatography such as TLC.
- Conduct incoming materials testing on plastics, glass, and rubber stoppers used in pharmaceutical drug production.
- Perform testing of current manufacturing materials to assist colleagues in more complex testing for alternate APIs and excipients.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
- Experience in a chemistry lab from academia, including pH, titrations, and pipetting techniques.
- Desire to pursue a career as a chemist in pharmaceuticals.
- Proficiency in HPLC, UV, IR, Titration, pH, wet chemistry, and GMP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to learn and understand GMP documentation.
- Exposure to USP, which is valuable for future chemist opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry.
Work Environment
This is a modernized pharmaceutical lab space with significant investments in workflow enhancement. The lab houses over 200 individuals and operates on a 24/7 schedule. Safety is prioritized with strict adherence to GMP procedures. The workweek is Monday to Friday, first shift from 8 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional overtime. You may be asked to assist on the second shift based on business needs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
